Agreements

Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation have signed agreements to protect and further the develoment of the Nation and its people.

These Agreements are varied and ensure that the Yorta Yorta people have a role in management and decision making in our traditional area which relate to the protection, maintenance and sustainability of our culture and enviroment.

• Co-op Management Agreement
  In June 2004, the State of Victoria and Yorta Yorta Nations Aboriginal Corporation signed off on a landmark co-operative Land management agreement.
• Vic Roads Agreement
  A landmark agreement, applying to an area of approximately 6,500 square km, between Vic Roads and the Yorta Yorta on 18 December 2003 formalised a partnership between us as the traditional owner group and Victoria’s road authority.
• Victorian Indigenous Funding Agreement
  The Victorian Indigenous Affairs Framework (the VIAF) outlines how Government and Victorian Indigenous communities will work in partnership to improving outcomes for Indigenous Victorians.
• Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP)
  Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation successfully received Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAP) status on the 14th September 2007. The Nation now has legislative powers to manage and protect their cultural heritage under the Act.
